When I was writing THE BRIDESMAID’S BEST MAN, I discovered that a lot of wedding traditions were based on superstitions. Our ancestors did whatever they could to attract good luck. Everything from dressing the bridesmaids alike to having the bride carry strong smelling flowers was done to confuse and ward off evil spirits.
I didn’t think I was a superstitious person but it turns out I do some things unintentionally to ward off evil spirits. For example, I will say “gesundheit” or “bless you” after someone sneezes even though I know perfectly well that the person’s soul isn’t escaping from the body. I don’t know why I do it. I’m tempted to break the habit, but what harm could it cause if I continue?
What about you? Are you a superstitious? Tell me in the comment section before October 31, midnight Pacific Time. One commenter will win a $10 USD Amazon e-mail gift card. Good luck!
**UPDATE: Congratulations to Marcy Shuler! Her name was chosen using random.org and she receives the Amazon gift card. Thanks to everyone for sharing their superstitions!**
